It was Friday morning, I was in bed, and according to my phone, the world was coming to an end. I pulled the covers up under my neck, and I scrolled.
I scrolled and I scrolled and I scrolled, every image another shovelful of dirt in the grave of my soul: Marines on the streets of Los Angeles, parents separated from their children by masked officers, a military parade in honor of a president who dodged the draft.
And now, Israel at war with Iran.
I scrolled and I scrolled and I scrolled.
Some times I read the same reports on multiple sites.
Some sites I reloaded and reloaded, just to get the latest updates. I don’t know what I was scrolling for. Hope? An answer? An end? And then, just as I could scroll no more, I found it.
