There is much to worry the mind these days about the future of our species and planet – war, climate change, further “Ghostbuster” remakes and whatever tripe “Barbie” spawns.
At least you know what's important in life--laughter! I laughed out loud several times. Is the medium mocking the message or inflating it? Writers think it's all about the words, but font and color matter, too. This is a delicious piece.
On a serious note, that quote from Mein Kampf is too chillingly close to things people are saying (and posting) today. If you hadn’t given it attribution, I would have thought it was something said on some Ivy League campus in the last few weeks.
It used to be that an aphorism had to be superimposed over an image of Morgan Freeman so your inner monologue would revert to a deep, Shawshank drone. I think we’re regressing.
I have always been troubled by my father’s last four words, as evidenced by his epitaph: “He had No Regrets." The fact he chose to carve his Weltanschauung in comic sans provides no comfort only mild nausea. ✌🏻 🤢👏
Yesterday in my quiet neighborhood in Denver, someone wrote "From the River to the Sea" etc. over and over for about 30 feet of the sidewalk...in childlike handwriting and in light pink and blue chalk. As I approached it I honestly thought it was going to be words of encouragement for some weekend 5k or something ("You can do it!" "You got this!"). But no.
The message and the presentation were so discordant I wondered if it was some meta-prank that missed. Now I'm wondering if it was playing on whatever psychological principle makes people think this works. Now I'm worried that it works.
And you didn't even get to mention the AI generated, 'cute', 'photo' rubbish we're served if we can be bothered to scroll down our FB feeds. [David Farrier wrote a piece on his fight with that.] I think it's a sign of the masses suffering from undernourished souls. Hey people, just give each other a hug!
This went from amusing to savage in record time, as readers of the Fetal Position have come to expect.
That's why we are here.

Morgan Freeman or Sam Eliot. It used to be that quotes were either attributed to MarkTwain or Jesus Christ. Yes, you're right. We are regressing.
LOL! <hand clapping emoji!>
