thank you for this post, it feels unreal to realize how sick society is getting and how there are very few people aware of how as humans we are definitely overpowered by social media. everyone needs to read this, and i hope that people who also worry about that stuff may find this post as well. sometimes it feels like no one around me thinks about all that, i feel less alone now
Very clever and, of course, all true, Shalom But... is anyone listening? I think not. Addiction is addiction, we see it, we sigh and we ultimately don't care. BUT I can assure you, if you throw your phone into the sea and disconnect from ALL social media, you will not die. You will truly live, and never look back. Resistance is not futile. I can attest to this from personal experience.
I rarely point the camera at myself, as I'm not fond of selfies. (Working through this aversion with my therapist.) I do appreciate the reminder to go through my camera roll to see which of my ten million pics of my cats need to be deleted.
Park up those phones people. A little at a time is a start. But putting the the things on flight mode and sticking them in a drawer somewhere is a liberating feeling. Or you can dance on top of them with great malice, which is an even better, if a tad more expensive, feeling.
We did just fine without them. Our kids are like strangers to us because of them. I fuk hate them.
Thanks for the post. Take care all. Over and out for the day. At least.
In other words, it can be said that the excessive use of artificial intelligence in all aspects of our contemporary life can eliminate the function of the human mind and put it on the margins, which leads to the loss of the sense of humanity.
A friend of mine once said, "Always be drunk on something." Though she enjoyed a glass of Gallo rotgut after a day at work, she was referring to Joy in Life. Seems her mantra, however, may apply to everyone willing to erase consciousness as well as joy. (what in the hell am I trying to say here?) sigh
“Be Drunken, Always. That is the point; nothing else matters. If you would not feel the horrible burden of Time weigh you down and crush you to the earth, be drunken continually. Drunken with what? With wine, with poetry or with virtue, as you please. But be drunken….” Charles Baudelaire. (There is more)
Thank you for my weekly dose of 21st century dread. It's like a cup of prune juice for the soul.
Savage humor. Good too
Now I have to get back to my phone.

Guffawing out loud - as I read on my phone
It is indeed getting weirder out there, Shalom. Let's just hope the joy and unity of the last few weeks isn't just a summer thing.
My sentiments exactly....except for the missing diarrhea part....I'll NEVER miss diarrhea.

Only 10 million? You must not love them. Just saying. Just joking!😺
Ten million on my current phone! I didn't mention what was on my previous phone, nor my desktop! 😜😁
"There will beno more warnings." Not that they made a difference, anyway.
Too right, Ann. As they say in Scotland, might as well "Save your breath to cool your porridge."
This is very funny.

Shalom: New book for one of us (probably you) to write: Prune Juice for the Soul.
go know. still locked in the fetal position, despite being there prevents seeing what's going on. by now, our muscles are locked in place.
hello, Shalom. Thanks for your ongoing sharp attacks on where we are.
Brilliant. I just typed “brilliant” on my cellphone’s keyboard. How meta😉 Seriously though - very on point

The same is true of heroin...

Love it. I'll bet Baudelaire also inspired Norma's (my friend) philosophy. And poetry or the writing of it is always a nice buzz.
nicely done, Shalom 🙏🏼
i'd like to put my post (re: digital heroin) on your radar. https://opentochange.substack.com/p/growing-up-before-digital-heroin
Just subbed. Thank you!
